When they first came home, Ty and Bella weren't gaining weight. We had a couple of appointments with the Dr to see what was going on--but finally figured it out at a movie. Kris and I went to see a movie, and took the twins. We had the nipples from the hospital (to use with premixed formula) rather than their regular bottles. We had been spending 30+ minutes for each 1-2 oz feeding. Using these nipples, we got 2 oz in each of them in about 5 minutes.
So, we replaced the bottles and surprised the doctor. When we took Ty back in, he had gained 20 oz in the previous 9 days (as compared to net -3 oz in the prior 2 weeks). Who knew that kids would be so picky about their bottles...
We held the fall semi-annual meeting of the Thomas Tolman Family Organization on Oct 18. Fourteen of us attended, and I enjoyed meeting and discussing things with everyone.
News:
- We have 171 members this year. (Last year we had 269 by the end of the year, so we're low.)
- People have done hundreds of hours of work this year for the family.
- The Judson Tolman journals are ready to be published.
- The Benjamin Tolman history is in progress.
- We now have some histories posted online, and it's possible to purchase items and pay your membership online. We also have some pedigree charts from Nathan on back; we will post more, but the majority voted not to show the names of anyone living.
- Our genealogist Loraine gave some stories and discussed her research to find Thomas Tolman's parents in England. She wanted our help: she's asked everyone who can to dedicate their November fast to finding his links in the old world. Now is a great time to support her in this task because of the time and effort she and John have put into the search.
Good luck to Loraine, and to everyone else keeping the family connected and growing. Onwards and upwards!
So the twins finally arrived this morning. Izzie came at 02:08 and weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19.25 inches. Ty came at 02:09 (yes they were cut out rather than pushed out) and weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and was 18 inches--so he is short and stubby. If you look at the jowels in the picture and the wrinkly head, he looks much like his Grandpa Tolman. Hopefully the link works for everyone so you can see the album posted on my Facebook page.
We are planning to bless them the Sunday after Christmas.
It has been a hectic few months getting ready for our mission. One wonderful event happened last week that we were so glad to still be here to be a part of. Brian and Tammy were blessed with their 4th child, (3rd son). Here are the specifics.

Mom and baby are home and doing well. Zachary had his first outing to attend the last day of school this Wednesday for big brother Benjamin's class reading of a poem. I was able to spend 3 days with Benjamin, Karinne and Dominic while Daddy and Mommy were at the hospital to bring Zachary home.
If you want to see a photo of the baby you can look at Janet's blog. I do not do blogs, and I am beginning to think I am completely deficient when it comes to computer knowhow, so I do not remember/know how to post a photo here. So enjoy Janet's blog.

At our appointment last week, we found out that we are having a boy and a girl. That's pretty exciting because it means that the boys will continue to outnumber the girls in our house.
Kris has a name picked out already for the girl, and told me I could name the boy--as long as I picked the name she already chose for him. Hmmmmm...
