May Executive Meeting

First of all, welcome to our new officers:

  • Barbara Tolman, Treasurer
  • Janis Newton, Secretary

Both of them showed ample enthusiasm and assistance, even in this first meeting, so we're excited to have their help. And thanks to Noriene and Carma for helping out up to this point. Onward and upward!

These past 2 months:

  • 50 more people paid their memberships
  • 426.5 more hours of volunteer work were done (plus 23 hours for house maintenance)
  • 26 more publications were purchased

Since last meeting, we had our Spring Cleanup which really helped the home's appearance, both inside and out. Thanks to all those who came! And we also had our Semi-Annual Meeting, with some status reports and a guest speaker Robert Reese. Hope everyone enjoyed it.

By the way, everyone should know that The Tolman House has recently been an additional blessing for those who live there full-time, especially over the past year with various family issues. Our family gifts keep on giving.

In the coming months, we are working on a few projects:

  • More people have offered to help, mostly to keep current information for our living relatives. Some have even expressed interest in helping with genealogy; it will be a challenge to train and coordinate that type of work, but Loraine appreciates the help and is dedicated to getting others involved.
  • We discussed how to ensure that the home pays for itself, so that all other funds (eg. membership) can go to other organizational work. Barbara said she would work on reports so that we can make sure to keep this balance; in addition, we will publicize some of our financial and other information so members are even more informed of the work everyone is doing.
  • At the home, the concrete on the upper driveway desperately needs fixing. Between that and some more windows that need replacing, we know where we'll be putting our house money this year.

We will skip June, so our next meeting will be on July 12.

Again, we appreciate everyone's work, and we invite you to chip in and enjoy yourself while you're helping out the entire family.

Cheers!
